Gianluigi Buffon?
Good addition to the squad, massive Hammers fan, better than what we've got.

And most importantly to our cheapskate owners,on a free.

Do you think he'd come?

Might as well re-sign Shilton or Parkers while we're at it!

gph - some clubs, often those managed by one H Redknapp, would describe what you have explained as their 'fast-track' system...

Re: Gianluigi Buffon?
He would need to be a backup as he's unable to go every game at Juve currently.

I have a great deal of respect for him, and I think he would be a great presence in the dressing room. He's always struck me as really down-to-earth, especially for having been one of the top 1 or 2 players in his position for large swaths of his career.

If we were to sign a good young goalkeeper who would benefit from his tutelage, it would be great, but seeing as we have all but missed out on Europe, I don't really see this as a possibility. We need to address our aging goalkeeper situation along with a striker, and per usual, it will probably be on a shoestring budget.

Re: Gianluigi Buffon?
I'm 63.

Although I'm an outfield player (anywhere but centre-back), I feel my skills need a little honing before I'm ready for the Premier League.

Ten years as an overage player in the U23s may just be what I need to make the step up...

One of the best keepers I've ever seen live. Up there with Big Nev and Schmeichel.

But no, thanks. He's now older than Noah. And, like Noah, seeing double.

It's already been mentioned several times that he isn't a 'massive' hammers fan, but he did say in his book that he loved the passion of west ham supporters and we are a club he would have liked to have played for. thats it.

Will we ever learn?
Old Folks United keep on extending over the past players with silly contracts.

We don't need old players to up our profile, let the results do that.

We have to stop this shit policy

Re: Gianluigi Buffon?
Both Buffon and Yaya are too old for my tastes.

We had a very old squad last season.......surely we should be recruiting younger talent?

Re: Gianluigi Buffon?
I'd have Buffon and Toure. Both bags of quality, winners and worth a season or two while the manager starts to build a new squad he wants.
